We are all getting older everyday–
and we just want to feel good and look good doing it, right?
Afterall, what good is living a long life it you can’t enjoy every minute of it in a healthy body?
A vital component to looking good on the outside, and feeling good on the inside, is what you eat.
Your choices in nutrition have a far more reaching impact on your wellness that you can even imagine.
Here are my top 3 healthy aging tips when it comes to your nutrition:
1. Drink alot of water. Start your day with a large glass of water. I make sure that I am drinking at least 8 glasses of water throughout my busy day to maintain hydration.
Detox Water:
1/2 c warm filtered water
1 T apple cider vinegar
Juice of one lemon
1/4 inch ginger
dash cayenne
Stir and drink. If you are new to apple cider vinegar use, start low at 1/4 tsp and build up to 1 T daily.
2. Drink your greens. I LOVE salads, but I dont have a lot of time during a busy workday to make–or chew–a large salad. So I drink my greens–smoothies and juices are Key to my energy, immune system and my healthy aging. Make sure you are getting at least 8 servings of fruit/veg/greens in your smoothies. I make my smoothies a complete meal by adding vegan protein and sprouted flax to each quart. This keeps me full longer, and also gives me the healthy omegas I need to great skin and hair.
Here is my favorite tropical smoothie recipe:
2 cups filtered water
4 large handfuls of organic spinach (or your choice of greens)
1 banana
1 1/2 cup tropical fruit mix: strawberries, pineapple and mango
1 scoop vegan protein
1 T ground flax
Optional: Ice
Add all ingredients to blender and blend well.
ProTip: Adjust consistency by adding more/less water and/or ice.
Try my strawberry smoothie or mango smoothie–Delicious!
3. Eat your veggies. I make it a point to eat fill my plate at least 3/4 way full with veggies. Just tons of veg as the foundation of my meals. You can eat unlimited veggies and enjoy them. You get full faster due to the fiber and nutritional content, never worry about counting them as calories since they are low-cal, enjoy the protein found in plants, and gain incredible health benefits that come from eating such an anti-oxidant rich and nutrient-dense diet.
I make salad the star of my meals. I enjoy salads with alot of greens, and homemade dressings. Try this simple and delicious detox salad–my favorite! Or my Light and Refreshing Spring Salad.
4. Bonus Tip: Make sure you are taking a daily probiotic with multiple strains of bacteria. And if you are over 40, you should also be taking a digestive enzyme since our ability to make digestive enzymes decreases by 50% as we age–this affects our digestion and our energy, and creates stress in our bodies. Keep your probiotics raw, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, nonGMO and organic. I take one each morning and one each evening with my meals.
Sounds simple right?
Just 1, 2, 3 easy steps to feeling well, looking well, and aging well.
I challenge you to do these 3 things every single day for 7 days, and see how you feel, how you look–and how your energy is.
I’m certain you will notice exactly what I noticed, and it’s all good.
Live Life Optimally,
Kristie
