Fat-Free=Sugar-Full and an unhealthy body

shutterstock_diabetes overweight measuring tape checking blood sugars_420054886Going fat-free in the 80’s and 90’s, has made American sugar-full. And Fat. And Sick. And Diabetic.

The statistics are staggering (Diabetes.org):

*29.1 million people in the United States have diabetes,

*8.1 million of whom may be undiagnosed and unaware of their condition

*In adults 20 and older, more than one in every 10 people suffers from diabetes

*In seniors (65 and older), more than one in four suffers from diabetes

I actually think the statistics are on the low-side, since the criteria for what numbers qualify as “diabetes” is changing as health care system changes–a healthy fasting blood sugar should be 85 or less. And most adults arent diagnosed until their sugars reach over 110.
Every number higher than 85 on a fasting blood sugar test is damaging your blood vessels and stressing your pancreas and liver.
Type 2 (adult) diabetes is reversible with lifestyle change: nutrition, exercise, weight loss and stress management.
Sugar makes us fat and sick, weak and inflammed.
When you evaluate your nutrition, make sure you are taking a good look at sugar.
Sure, it tastes good and feels good when you eat it–sugar rush for crashing adrenals!
But Nothing tastes as good, or feels as good, as:
aging well,
maintaining a healthy body weight,
having good energy,
and not having to use chronic disease medications to manage your preventible disease every single day.
