Creating Your Facebook System
1. Set up a facebook account. https://www.facebook.com
Before you open your account, think about a name. Using your own name is often best.
Consider keeping a common thread among your social media accounts so it is easy for people and customers to find–like your name.
2. Make your posts public Now, If you’re using social media to build your brand, your business, promote your services, spread your message, connect with other people, or just get your name out there… for heaven’s sake… GO PUBLIC!!!! (deep breath….deep breath…)
3. Connect
Connect with ALL your friends and acquaintances. Friend request old high school friends, college friends, family and church friends.
Join a few facebook groups that interest you to expand your network and build more relationships.
Always connect with people on facebook that you meet at networking events or just out
and about. Develop genuine online relationships. This is not about “getting” people.
4. Connect Facebook Account to Your Instagram Account Facebook and Instagram users are very connected. They share photos they post on Instagram on Facebook and vice versa. You can connect your accounts and cross-pollinate social accounts to build your audience.
As a new social media user, you will find it far easier to load a photo or video to FB and simply click “share” to the other platforms. If you’re short on time and need more content… I think it’s a great idea! Being consistenly present in social media is your primary goal.
As you gain experience, you might begin to customize your social media posts. For example, I prefer to give people a reason to follow me on FB, Twitter and Instagram, so I prefer to post unique (yet related) content to all three. While I often do post the same pic or video in all three areas, I don’t do it at the same time or with the same message. This is because I have found my audience in each social media platform to be different from the other, and as such, I rarely post to all those platforms with one click.
Instead, I save the image or video and post it organically to Twitter or FB at a later time (if it applies) and when I do, I often change the message.
Keep in mind that when Facebook reports how much interaction, activity, and posting is happening on Facebook, they are, in fact, including the millions and millions of Instagram users who simply link their IG account to their FB.
5. Set Interaction Goals Entrepreneurs are goal setters. Goals require a measure (number) and a time frame. While new followers give you a boost to the ego…new followers don’t mean much if your business is not reflective of your work. You want customers. You want relationships. That requires interaction. Set a daily goal for interaction. For example…
“My goal is to Friend Request 10 new people a week.”
“My goal is to reply to a minimum of 10 comments under my post today.”
“My goal is to post 5 post that anyone can share.”
6. Brand yourself
Do not verbally vomit your product/ business all over your page.
What do you represent? Remember, GSGLife is the vehicle and you are the business. People join because of you not just the product.
It is important to map out your weekly facebook system. For example:
Monday & Friday: Inspirational Quote
Wednesday: Recipe
Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday: Health tips
Throughout the week share posts about GSGLife or classes you are teaching.
People love to see personal posts too. Share you kids and family life.
(This is just an example) You can find your own voice, always be yourself.
Theme ideas:
Motivational Monday
Toxic Tuesday
Wednesday Wellness
Transformation Thursday
Fit & Fab Friday
Give something of value on your page weekly, so people follow you.
Ex: Fitness video, cooking video, inspirational video
Facebook loves videos! Get comfortable with making quick videos. J
7. Post with consistency.
Be consistent! Post Daily. If you go days without posting, those are days that your page goes “stale.”
When you post great content, in the right quantity, you’ll get new followers for you to interact with!
Use a post app like Hootsuite (https://hootsuite.com) to simplify the process.
Pinterest can be a great resource for recipes, quotes and health tips.
Make sure to post at the best times: 7AM-9AM (peak times) 12-1PM, 4PM and after 8PM-11PM (peak times).
Your page should be exciting and create curiosity, not giving it all away up front or
constantly shoving your business in people’s faces. People will unfriend you or block
your posts.
Show lifestyle, pictures and videos, vacations, living the good life.
Don’t post political rants or opinions, it’s not the place if you’re building a business. Don’t be negative or share your bad day. People don’t want to join negative, angry people.

GSGLife is a business of building relationships. You are sharing your excitement and passion. If you answer questions online you will get more and more questions, and lose the customer.
8. Share Your Hashtags on your facebook posts:People follow hashtags like they do popular topics. You can use witty hashtags like #SuburbanGangstaMom and entertain a few people or you could use something like #weightloss and grab the attention of people looking for something more specific. I have also begun to use my own name as a hashtag so that I can best identify those trying to get my attention #sallysmith.
